I have an autistic child, and while I try to have a life outside autism, it's not here. This is the place I wallow in the ASD-ness of things. I totally understand if you click on something else now! But if you want to ride the rollercoaster with me... jump on. It's a surprising amount of fun.

Dear Val, I read your story in the Women's Weekly today and my heart went out to you. The story of an autistic girl that had been written in the Reader's Digest, March 1992 came to my mind. Her name was Georgie Stehli. A french doctor retrained her hearing, (which had been incredibly acute)so that she was able to hear normally and her behaviour began to change from that time on. She ended up an Honours student in Art at a university. I have the Digest if you're interested in reading the article. All the best. Sarah Butcher
